However, in spite of her strident and self-centered nature, Lola is also compassionate as she loves her siblings. She is always grateful for Lincoln's kindness towards her, and usually appreciates her family's company. At times, she has shown herself to be capable of humility and selflessness when compelled to let go of her own needs, so she isn't completely heartless.

Even though she is determined to get her way most of the time, she often shows remorse or guilt if she hurts the feelings of one of her family members. In an alternate universe where the sisters are boys, Lola is a boy named Lexx. Similar to Lola, Lexx is dressed like a prince, and drives a toy car similar to Lola's pink one. Unlike Lola, who is missing her front teeth, Lexx is missing his canines. Her snow attire is a pink tundra coat with matching pants, light pink earmuffs, and purple mittens with matching boots. Her swim wear is a swimming dress called a "swim gown", and she uses plastic wrap to protect her outfit when she's swimming, because she doesn't like to be splashed with water.

Thanks to Apple, everyone began expecting everything to be well-designed. Suddenly, the demand for designers who knew how to create great experiences exploded. As design-centric social media skyrocketed, too, designers were able to create just about any interface they could think of and share it with the world.
When the web took over everything, organizations, large and small, were on a much more level playing field in terms of reaching their audience. Everyone wanted and needed a website, designers hurried to meet the need, learned basic skills, and began pumping out websites to meet demand. For the first time, the world of HCI and interface design that started in the tech companies of Silicon Valley was available to a much wider group of creators who had no idea what they were doing. To understand how designers fit into corporate culture, we need to understand the changing shift and attitudes toward design as something more than just an aesthetic.
The shortcoming of the critique in business is that it doesn’t always help us address the needs of the business with our design solutions. Even in schools that bring in volunteer “clients” or design imaginary products, the problems being solved have no real long-term effect. But, when the user experience of a company’s product is in question, millions of dollars in revenue could be on the line.
So, let’s jump right in by first going all the way back to the 1990s. Closely aligned with the growth of the web to serve products and experiences is a new business approach in which entire organizations arrange themselves to value design and make it a part of their core culture. As startups and big corporation CEOs are beginning to value design, we see an organizational model that makes it possible for businesses to really hone in on and make product design their primary strength.
Whatever the reason, when someone is good at what they do, they have a hard time telling people why they did what they did. Because if you can’t get their support, your work will never see the light of day—no matter how good it is. Being mindful of the language you use when communicating your design decisions to clients and stakeholders is important. Often, they don't come from a design background, and using jargon and technical terms may confuse them.

A prerequisite for a good brainstorming session is that the team be clear about the challenges they need to solve and the objectives they must achieve. When lead designers communicate this effectively, they steer the design team in the right direction. Articulating design decisions is a crucial soft skill for a designer to be effective and successful.
Agile working styles demand that designers deliver faster and faster, so asynchronous feedback will become the new norm. There are a few ideas from the book that can be taken into the new async world, but most will have to be left behind. Today, businesses and even entire industries are built around the “disruption” of creating a better user experience. The way that you succeed in business is to find an existing category and then tweak the user experience to the nth degree.
Eighth chapter is basically a closing summary of chapters 6 and 7. It does however contain an extensive table of example messages used in very specific situations. Yet, I’d argue that without additional context and/or background behind each case, this ‘dataset’ is somehow unusable in building/ polishing your design articulation arsenal. You must be willing to embrace feedback and listen to them positively. By documenting the design decisions and the reasoning behind them, designers can create a reference point for the future. Well-documented design decisions act as a record of information that the design team can leverage for similar projects in the future.
To take it a step further, we don’t have to look far to see how digital products have fueled uprisings and revolutions in places such as Syria, Turkey, Egypt, and even Ferguson, Missouri in the United States. In these situations, the use of digital products became the voice of the people and upset the political balance. An interface designed by someone in a meeting with stakeholders became a tool for empowering an entire population toward revolution. As a result, you have designers who started out somewhere else, creating stuff that was mostly focused on the look and feel.
It is the lens they use to connect and communicate with their friends and family. It’s a powerful social engine that frames every modern conversation. And so it’s no surprise that the details of how the interface works elicits strong reactions from people who perceive it almost as an intrusion into the way they live their lives. Food on Crystal Serenity is Inventive
As of the publishing of this guide, fares for Crystal Serenity sailings were starting at $3,200 per person for the least expensive cabin on a six-night sailing from Vancouver to Los Angeles. These fares are based on double occupancy — that is, they are valid when two passengers share a room. Other activity areas on the ship include a large library staffed throughout the day, a computer classroom, a shopping area that wraps around the central atrium on Deck 7 and a bridge lounge for bridge playing, tournaments and classes. (Bridge is big on Crystal ships.) The ship's entertainment staff also offers dance classes at times.

The guests onboard deserve my time, and being new to the company, I need to earn their trust. I’m starting on the ground floor with the new Crystal but there’s so much respect for the company’s legacy. Crystal has always had a stellar reputation for entertainment, it’s always been at the very top of the industry and still is. Company changes in 2023 (relaunch)
That company ceased to exist when its parent company, Genting Hong Kong, collapsed in early 2022 and was liquidated. The company that bought Crystal Serenity and the rights to the Crystal brand name from the liquidators of the former company has relaunched the vessel. But not before it poured millions of dollars into a massive overhaul of the ship that has left it sparkling — almost as if it were new.

The vessel's physical construction started on June 13, 2002, with the keel laying ceremony held at Chantiers de l'Atlantique (St Nazaire, France). The ship was launched/floated out from drydock on August 10, 2002, completed/delivered on June 30, 2003, and christened on July 3, 2003, in Southampton England by godmother Julie Andrews (UK actress-singer, 1935-born as Julia Elizabeth Wells). On July 7th started the Inaugural Cruise (14-day itinerary roundtrip from Southampton to Northern European/Baltic ports). For personal use in port, you can head to the concierge desk to rent a set of clubs. There are eight ADA rooms on Crystal Serenity — some aquamarine veranda suites and some aquamarine ocean-view suites. The pool deck — in close proximity to the gelato bar – on deck 12 feels like a relaxed, exclusive Mediterranean beach club.
Umi Uma & Sushi Bar, Prego, and The Vintage Room are considered specialty restaurants and require reservations. You can dine at each of the specialty restaurants once per cruise for free. Each additional reservation you make at a specialty restaurant will incur a $30 per person fee. You’ll be able to find the dress code for your ocean or expedition voyage, either Crystal Casual or black tie optional, for each day at sea in your Personal Cruise Calendar. Crew gratuities (for stateroom attendants, butlers, restaurant, and bar personnel, etc.) are included in all Crystal cruise fares.
On March 5, 2025, Crystal Serenity starts a 44-night voyage from Rio de Janeiro to Mumbai. Call ports include St Helena Island UK, Walvis Bay Namibia, Cape Town South Africa, Zanzibar, Mombasa, the Seychelles, the Maldives, and Sri Lanka. The top-luxury aircraft features lay-flat seats (reclining to 73,5 inches / 1,87 m) positioned in clusters of 2, 2 aisles, dining lounge (with 4 dining tables), 24-seat bar lounge (with stone veneers, color-changing LED lighting), 2 galleys (kitchens). Crystal's yacht fleet had to operate in polar and coastal regions - European Arctic (during summer), migrating whales route (sailing along the coasts of Europe and the Americas), down to Antarctica (during winter). The bold decision for 3 new polar ships followed a 3-year research that found that nearly 70% of Crystal's customers are highly interested in polar expedition travel.
The company's sustainable travel policy (part of the Crystal Cares program) was implemented on June 8, 2019. By this fleetwide initiative, all plastic straws were completely eliminated and replaced with paper straws. Crystal Cares comprises various fleetwide environmental efforts and sustainable practices. In 2019 was signed the partnership deal with the global conservation organization ORCA (Organization for Respect and Care for Animals). By this partnership and as part of the OceanWatch Master Fisherman program, on select Alaskan cruises, Crystal ships are boarded by "Cruise Conservationists" for training, research and marine data collection. Normally, Crystal's around-the-world voyages begin and end in either Florida or California (or both; the line sometimes offers the option of joining its world cruises in either state as the ship makes it way around the world).
The Crystal brand was officially launched on July 24, 1990, when Crystal Harmony (now Asuka 2) departed San Francisco CA on a 12-day inaugural cruise to Alaska. Crystal Cruises is a luxury cruise line offering ocean, river, yacht, and expedition cruises. Each of its 8 ships is designed for the luxury traveler and includes elegant accommodations and exquisite cuisine. The cruise line’s new owner is London-based A&K Travel Group, whose majority stakeholder is luxury cruise pioneer Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio, the founder of Silversea, which was sold to Royal Caribbean Group several years ago. The new Crystal currently features just the two luxury ocean ships (the former Crystal Cruises’ river ships and an expedition vessel were acquired by different buyers), but A&K Travel Group has revealed plans to build four additional ships by 2029.
So, in around the mid-nineties, I moved to NYC and started to pursue more comedic roles, first on stage and then as a stand-up. But even though I’d been having a lot of success, living and working in NYC is hard for performers, and when I was offered a chance to do a season in Las Vegas as Tanya in Mamma Mia! I had been going through a tough time with a lot of personal loss, and once in Vegas I had an epiphany - do I want to go back to NYC and stand in line with 300 other women, all talented, all beautiful, all up for the same role as me? As if the universe was listening, I got the word my musical Director for Mamma Mia!
